Another version of paradise...Malu 'Aina

Now that I know I will probably get to Hawaii in 2009 for the Medical Library Association Annual Meeting, I started to ponder where the culture of peace is rooted in the land that long ago gave us Hawaii-Five-0. Well, here is one sparkling example of personal commitment to harmony with the land and extinguishing the roots of violence.
Malu 'Aina (Land of Peace) is the Hawaiian name given to the Center for Non-Violent Education and Action located on the Big Island of Hawaii. A spiritual community based on peace, justice and sustainable organic farming, Malu 'Aina took root in 1980. A wide variety of fruits and vegetables are grown to share freely with people in need. The volunteers of Malu 'Aina work cooperatively and seek a deeper understanding of non-violence as a way of life.
